• Extension preferences: Settings you configure are stored locally in your browser only
• Basic error reports: Anonymous technical error information to help improve the extension (no personal data included)

2. How 5kVIZ works

Local-first architecture

5kVIZ operates entirely within your browser:

• The extension reads data that's already visible on your Parkrun results page
• All calculations, analytics, and visualisations happen on your device
• No data is sent to external servers or databases
• Shareables are generated locally and saved to your device

Data processing

When you visit a Parkrun results page:

1. 5kVIZ reads the data already displayed on the page
2. Analytics are calculated in real-time using JavaScript
3. Charts and visualisations are generated in your browser
4. All data remains in your browser's memory during your session

3. Browser permissions

Required permissions

5kVIZ requests these minimal permissions:

• Access to Parkrun: To read and enhance your results pages
• Storage: To save your preferences and settings locally in your browser
• Downloads: For saving shareables

What we don't request

Unlike many extensions, 5kVIZ does not request:

• Access to all websites
• Network/internet access for data transmission
• Camera, microphone, or location permissions
